Former US Foreign Ministry expressed his strong concern about US -led Donald Trump leadership
Former US Secretary of State Biden, Anthony Blinken, said his strong concern about the US under the leadership of Donald Trump in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro.
The former US Foreign Minister estimated that the current US president is attracted to authoritarian regimes and wanting to restore an old -fashioned world where the powerful divide the planet into a spheres of influence.
In particular, Anthony Blinken points out that Trump clearly shows his preference for leaders such as Russian Vladimir Putin, Chinese Xi Jing, Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hungarian Victor Orban would like a model of international relations similar to that of 19th century.
As for Ukraine, he believes that Trump has an inadequate understanding of Putin’s goals and may even be compatible with Ukraine’s absorption by Russia.
It also expresses concern about Israel’s intentions in Gaza, referring to unacceptable exclusion practices and a possible violent displacement of the Palestinians. He points out that the Gaza Development Strategy without the Palestinians is unsustainable and dangerous to the stability of the area.
Finally, Blinken fears democracy in the US, stressing the systematic attempt to undermine institutions by the Trub environment. Although he believes that the system will withstand, he recognizes that the damage is real. For Europe, he stresses that Trub respects only power and that Europeans should draw the necessary conclusions.
