Archbishop Australia Makarios inaugurated the Church of St. Andrew Adelaidos
In a climate of spiritual joy and emotion, and in the presence of a large number of pious believers, they were celebrated on Saturday, September 13, by His Eminence Archbishop Australia. Makarios, the inauguration of the Holy Temple of St. Andrew in the suburb Noarlunga, Adelaide.

The inauguration ceremony was a fact of historical importance, both for the parish of St. Andrew and the whole of the Holy Diocese of Adelaide. This is because, on the one hand, he sealed the course of the restoration of the Church, after the test of the destructive fire that occurred in this March 2024, on the other hand, because it was the first inauguration of the Greek Orthodox Church that were held in Adelaida.
Archbishop Makarios, in his speech to the numerous church, referred extensively to the importance of the inauguration of a temple. “This event, once for every temple of God, is not a mere act of dedication, but is a theological event, a spiritual baptism, a functional testimony that a space has been separated from the cosmic reality and has become a container of divine presence,” he said, among others. He begged the faithful of the parish to feel the Church of St. Andrew as their own Spiritual House; not only as an occasional place, but as a living house of God, where they experience society with the Triune God through the Mysteries.
Subsequently, His Eminence congratulated and thanked, on behalf of the Holy District Synod of the Archdiocese of Australia, all who contributed to the material and spiritual progress of the parish, from its inception until today. He first of all congratulated the priestly boss Fr. Armandos, on his sacrificial ministry, as well as all the predecessors of the clergy. He also made special mention to the founding members, the many benefactors and donors, as well as to the faithful parishioners, living and sleeping, who worked hard and supported the establishment and progress of the parish. “I pay tribute to all these people because they did not just build a church. But they opened the gates of heaven in this blessed city of Adelaide, for all those who long for the kingdom of God. ” Finally, addressing the Bishop of the Bishop, Mr. Silouanos, he praised his dedication to the ministry of the needs of the parishes and believers of I. Diocese of Adelaide. He acknowledged that his presence, guidance and spiritual care have been decisive to the unity of the Church and the progress of Orthodox testimony in the state of South Australia.
