Violent incidents broke out during the night in the town of Malmo, in southern Swedenafter rallies denouncing the intention of an extreme right-wing organization to burn a copy of the Koran, police announced today.
“There were fires at various points during the night in Malmo,” police said in a statement.
Garbage bins, a bus and a car were burned, they explained. Many lawsuits have also been filed for property vandalism.
The episodes broke out after a rally of the anti-immigrant and anti-Islamic “Hard Line” led by the Danish Rasmus Palundanwhich is currently organizing a tour in Sweden resulting in many clashes between police and protesters in several Swedish cities.

“The situation calmed down around 3 in the morning, there were some fires but the violence has stopped”said police spokeswoman Kim Hold on public radio SR, saying no members of the police force were injured.
