THE Germany will stop importing oil from Russia by the end of the year, the German Foreign Minister announced Annalena Berbockafter a meeting today with her Baltic counterparts.

“So I say here clearly and unequivocally yes, Germany is also completely eliminating Russian energy imports,” Burbok said.

“We will halve the oil by the summer and we will reset it until the end of the year and then will follow natural gas“on a common European roadmap, because our common exit, the full exit of the European Union, is our common strength.”

In a joint press conference with Burbok, Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkevics said that Europe should further reduce its trade with Russia after the invasion of Ukraineincluding energy imports.

“We have to be aware of that Russia will not calm down “For some time, even after the military attack on Ukraine, it will continue to act hostilely,” Rinkevich said.

“We must reconsider our cooperation with Ukraine and reduce trade ties with Russia as much as possible. “This also concerns the energy sector,” said the Latvian Foreign Minister.
