Panel SA: Petrobras gains more time to deliver data under investigation

by

Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) extended the deadline of a few days that it had established for Petrobras to deliver a series of information required in the administrative inquiry it opened to investigate possible abuses by the state-owned company in the fuel market.

The date was scheduled for this Friday (21), but was extended to Monday (24).

Last Monday (17), the autarchy sent a questionnaire to Petrobras asking for information such as production volume, costs, prices, billing and installed capacity of one of its units between 2017 and 2021. Cade also asks the state-owned company to inform the remuneration policy and profit sharing between directors, dividends, in addition to methodologies for calculating import parity prices, number of contracts and volume of fuel sold at each terminal.

If it does not respond to the questionnaire within the deadline, the state-owned company may be punished with a daily fine of R$5,000, which can be increased by up to 20 times.

The investigation was launched on January 12 and aims to find out whether Petrobras committed any kind of economic infraction in the recent increase in the price of gasoline and diesel.
On the same day, Petrobras had readjusted fuel prices at refineries by up to 8%.

Sought by the SA Panel, Petrobras did not answer whether it will deliver Cade’s questionnaire within the deadline.
