“Treasures of Philhellenic Painting” from the Collection of the Antonios E. Komnenos Foundation in Telloglio

The exhibition, after its presentation at the Benaki Museum, in Athens, opens in Thessaloniki on Thursday, September 22

With the report “Treasures of Philhellenic Painting” from the Collection of the Antonios E. Komnenos Foundation, the Telloglio Foundation completes the cycle of celebrations of 200 years since the Greek Revolution.

The exhibition, after its presentation at the Benaki Museum, in Athens, will be opened in Thessaloniki on Thursday, September 22, 2022 by the Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni.

The projects that will be presented come from Collection of the Antonios E. Komnenos Foundation and are paintings created by European painters who were associated with the Philhellenic movement.

It is a unique collection, on the one hand, because the creators include famous European painters such as the Italians L. Lipparini, C. Dell’Acqua, F. Agricola, the Germans Peter von Hess, JC Perlberg, L. Lange, C. Rottmann, the ‘ English D. Dighton, E. Lear, GP Reinagle, the French AM Colin, P. Bonirote, the Danish MCW Rørbye. on the other hand, because the shows touch on all aspects of Philhellenism, the cult of cultured Europeans, the support of Christendom, the sympathy of liberals everywhere.

The exhibition, curated by Fani-Maria Tsigakou, is accompanied by an illustrated bilingual edition (Greek-English), which will be available at Telloglio (Agiou Dimitriou 159A), Mikro Telloglio (Kar. Del. 32) and e -shop of the Foundation.
