Sir Michael Caine confirmed that he has retired from acting, following the release of his new film “The Great Escaper”.

The 90-year-old acting legend stars in the film alongside the late Glenda Jackson, who passed away in June, just months after filming wrapped.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4 Michael Caine said: “I keep saying I’m going to retire. So I’m saying it now. I thought I had a picture that I was the lead in and had incredible reviews… What am I going to do to overcome this?».

In the movie, Michael Caine plays Bernie Jordana World War II veteran who escapes from the care home he lives in to attend the D-Day anniversary celebrations in France.

The only roles I might get now are 90 year old men. Or maybe 85,” he said. “They are not going to be the protagonists. There are no leading men in their 90s, there are young beautiful boys and girls. So I thought I might as well get away with it all“, noted the British actor.
