In fact, one of them armed his weapon and others started throwing stones, as a result of which the shepherd left, who is noted to have recorded the incident with his mobile phone.
The head of the Denias community also mentioned that the farmer has a license to work in the area.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Guard and the United Nations were informed of the incident.
It is noted that the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs made representations at the highest level, while, as we are informed, it considers the incident serious, since it is the second one that has occurred in the region within a few months.
The press representative of UNFICYP, Alim Sidiq, when asked about this, said that the peacekeeping force is investigating the incident. “The investigation must be completed before we reach any conclusions,” he said, adding that the safety of civilians inside the dead zone remains a top priority for the peacekeeping force.
