Specifically, the situation remains dramatic in Rhodes for the sixth consecutive night, while a large fire is raging in Aigio and Karystos. Firefighters are also fighting the flames in Ylikis and Corfu.
“Battle” with revivals on three fronts
Great are the revivals in Rhodes. The fire is burning out of control and according to all indications this night will be especially difficult. Until now, despite the efforts made, the situation on the three fronts of the fire is out of control, while the damage to the island’s ecosystem is enormous.a three fronts that are in progress are in the area of Asklipeio – Kiottari, in the area of Apollon and in the area of Laermo and there is an air and ground battle to contain them. Shortly before 20:00, a new large flare-up took place in the village of Malonas with the strong winds making the work of the firefighters difficult. Residents were evacuated from the village due to the thick smoke as well as from the neighboring villages, Massari and Kalathos.
Due to the development, in a state of emergency due to the fire that is still raging on the island of Rhodes, the municipal unit of South Rhodes was declared by decision of the general secretary of Civil Protection.
Battle with the flames in Aegio
The situation in Aigio is also particularly difficult. The fire that broke out in the early afternoon, between Aigio and Diakoptos, specifically in the settlement of Dervenakia and the community of Mamousias Diakoptos, is ongoing.
The flames are getting closer the village of Bank in Aigio with residents ringing church bells warning residents to evacuate the village following police orders.
Shortly after 19:30 a message was sent from 112 for the evacuation of the Kastro settlement to Katholiko. the fire is burning virgin forest in an inaccessible area and has already entered the Vouraikos gorge. However, the winds in the region are constantly changing direction, with the forces fighting to prevent it from crossing the national road.
The fire threatened the settlement of Vytiniotika and moved along the New Corinth – Patras National Road in the direction of Diakofto and Akrata.

At the same time, four German tourists were rescued by an EMODE team in Vouraikos. According to the information, they were trapped in the smoke. It is about a family. The 6th EMODE team was at the scene and managed to locate and remove them.
99 firefighters with 35 vehicles, a pedestrian section and a forest commando are operating at the scene.
Night of agony in Karystos
The fire that broke out today in Karysto in Evia is also in full progress. The ground forces of the fire brigade are trying to stop the march at critical points so that the flames do not spread towards Karystos.
Shortly after 17:30 in the afternoon, a 112 message was sent to the residents of Livadi, Potami, Pernaraki and Platanistos to move to Karystos.
As it became known from the municipal authority, earlier one of the fire fronts approached the village of Platanistos and the police caught up and safely removed the residents who were near the beach.
In Karystos there are 77 firefighters with 25 vehicles and a pedestrian section.
Big fire in northern Corfu
A large fire is also underway in North Corfu. The fire broke out in Loutses and extends on several fronts with outbreaks on both the north and south sides of the mountain top.
Shortly before 20:30 a message was sent from 112 to evacuate the settlements Portes, Megula, Simies, Old Perithea and Saga to Cassiopeia. Alongside, the flames are approaching the settlements of Santa and Megula.
Powerful forces of the Fire Department, the civil protection of the municipality of North Corfu, residents and volunteers are fighting to bring under control the fiery blaze which is burning on a front of kilometers.
The night is expected to be particularly difficult as the fire is burning in two hearths with the information so far stating that they have escaped by burning trees and grass in the old Perithia.
The Mayor of North Corfu Giorgos Mahimaris, who is in the settlement of Megoulas, speaking to the Athens Agency, said that “it is a difficult situation and the fire in the settlement of Megoulas has reached the first houses. Together with Civil Protection and residents who refuse to leave their homes because they want to protect their properties, firefighters and police are fighting to stop the front of the fire.”
The fire is raging in Yiliki
The fire also rages in the Boeotia Material. The Regional Governor of Central Greece, Fanis Spanos, stated that it is a dangerous fire “that we cannot ignore”. “We are fighting a real battle with firefighters and volunteers along with machinery and water tankers to be able to contain it.”
