The event was co-organized by the Region, the General Archives of the State, the Hellenic Cultural Foundation, the Eugenidou Foundation and the cultural organization Grow. It was watched online by about 600 citizens and representatives of organizations from various countries: France, Ireland, Italy, Panama, Russia, USA, Africa and Venezuela.

It is our timeless, common point of reference. A key role in this aspect is played by our teachers, who tirelessly pass on our language from generation to generation. In addition, the central position of the Greek language in the international arena, makes it part of the world heritage. Despite being used by a small part of the world population, its imprint is strong and timeless. It is a language in which philosophy, literature, science and medicine were developed. A language that counts thousands of years of life “.
Greetings were also addressed by Amalia Pappas, if. General Director of General Archives of the State, Giannis Chrysoulakis Secretary General of Hellenes Abroad, Nikolaos Krikos Consul General of Greece in Moscow, Giannis Korinthios, Professor of Modern Greek Language, University of Calabria, L. Dimitriadis-Eugenides by students of the schools Myrtia- Painting Lyceum of Constantinople, Homer Himaras nine-grade Greek school and the Lyceum of Marco Galti of Italy, where Greek is taught.

Referring to the efforts of “the great Hellenist, Giannis Korinthiou” for the establishment of this Day, he underlined his contribution from the position of president of KEDE in 2014 when a meeting in Rome, KEDE immediately adopted the initiative and promoted a resolution on the establishment of the World Greek Language Day, which was voted in favor by 202 municipalities in the country.
It is noted that the initiative was started by the president of the Federation of Greek Communities and Brotherhoods of Italy, Giannis Corinthios and the president of the Hellenic Society of Italy, Marco Galdi, mayor of Cava de Tireni.
Concluding his greeting, the governor expressed his satisfaction that eight years later the effort bore fruit “through multifaceted actions, starring Greek Greeks and distinguished scientists-researchers” and stressed: “We owe, we will all serve in full bequeathing to the next generations of Greeks the love for the language and the culture, giving them the baton to continue its projection all over the world “.
