The date has been set for the trial at the Special Court with defendants Dimitris Papagelopoulos and Eleni Touloupakis
The trial of the former Deputy Minister of Justice, Dimitris Papagelopoulou and the former head of the Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Eleni Touloupaki determined to begin at Special Court on the responsibility of ministers September 19, 2022.
The referral of Mr. Papagelopoulos, from five-member Judicial Council of the Special Court, is unanimous on the offenses of abuse of power amounting to a felony, which concerns the failure to send to the Parliament the complaints-lawsuits of three KINAL-PASOK MPs (in 2017) against the then Minister of Health Panagiotis Kouroupli and the then Deputy Minister of Health, Andrea Xantho for non-invoicing of drugs in 2015.
At the same time, Mr. Papagelopoulos is referred to the Special Court for breach of duty to the extent of a misdemeanor by extensionfor pressures and interventions he allegedly exerted on three public prosecutors
For the failure to send the “Kouroupli file” to the Parliament, Mrs. Touloupaki is also referred to the Special Court for abuse of power. This impeachment of the former corruption prosecutor was made by a majority of three votes in favor and two against. Specifically, Olga Schetaki-Bonatou and Vassilis Androulakis abstained.
