“The “management” of the problem of bad loans by SYRIZA shot up the bad loans (at a rate of about 43.5% of all loans), and left the borrowers hanging” says Mr. Oikonomou among other things
Answer to the “shots” fired earlier by the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras against the government regarding the auctions, the government spokesman said, Giannis Oikonomou.
“Today’s decision of the Supreme Court, Mr. Tsipras, confirms the law 4354/2015, which was passed when SYRIZA ruled the country you were prime minister too. That is why the image of Mr. Tsipras, the man who sold treasures and handed over coals, should appear under the heading “political pharisaism”. Not only for this, but for many more. Because under SYRIZA, 30,000 auctions were held, electronic auctions were introduced to facilitate lenders, the sale of loans to funds without prior information to the borrower was legislated, the offense of obstructing an auction was made personal and the protection of the first home was abolished horizontally (February 2019)” said Mr. Economou and continued:
“The “management” of the problem of bad loans by SYRIZA fired the bad loans (at a rate of approximately 43.5% of all loans), and left the borrowers hanging on wood, after first giving them the feeling of being completely freed from their debts.
On the contrary, our Government has established auction protection and suspension possibilities to protect the particularly sensitive social group of vulnerable debtors. Key pillars of these possibilities are the state subsidy of installments of vulnerable borrowers, the suspension of creditor measures for those who join the program and, of course, out-of-court settlement. Through this mechanism, debts amounting to 1.08 billion have already been settled for over 3300 households, while banks and claim managers have made bilateral arrangements totaling 27 billion euros for non-performing loans of over 590,000 borrowers.
The Government of New Democracy deals with the issue of private debt consistently, methodically and with social sensitivity. Whatever Mr. Tsipras tries to say today, he cannot fool the citizens again» concludes the government representative.
