His proposal for the formation of the “Democracy Front” in order to “take the lead for a new, great, inclusive Left of a progressive space and not to chase problematic options that belong to the past” argued in his speech to the Central Committee of SYRIZA-PS Dionysis Teboneras and noted: “We don’t need an entrenched Left, nor a return to problematic social democracy. To make use of our origins as a wider gathering of democratic forces”.

Analyzing the modern reality, he said:Society is experiencing a huge regression in terms of individual and social rights. Citizens see their income plundered through accuracy. The democratic world cannot remain indifferent to this special condition. We must first of all as citizens and then as executives of the parties that define themselves in the progressive space, to undertake socio-political initiatives. Obviously, in conditions of pre-election party competition, there is no possibility for ‘summit meetings’.

He then proposed: “Now is the time for SYRIZA-PS to work in a unifying and promotional way, for all democratic forces, based on its historical tradition and genetic origins. The ‘Democracy Front’ it is addressed to all citizens regardless of their party membership, to social institutions, to collectives but also to the existing, political formations of the progressive space, who cooperate with unity in action, respecting the political independence and autonomy of the rest”.

He finally referred to the European elections by saying: “The European elections can and should provide the opportunity for initiatives by SYRIZA PS with the Eurogroups of the left, the socialists and the environmentalists to eliminate Europe’s democratic deficit and to deepen and consolidate it.” He finally asked for the contribution text for the Democracy Front to be part of the pre-congress dialogue and to be discussed at the party’s congress.”
