The Prime Minister is in Thessaloniki from where he will shortly announce the national campaign against school violence
Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a meeting with New Democracy MPs from Thessaloniki on Tuesday morning, shortly before the announcements on the national campaign against school violence.
The prime minister and the members of parliament met in a cafe in the center of Thessaloniki, while according to information there had been a meeting on the subject of the pre-election campaign for the European elections.
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, will present from the 3rd Polichni High School the government’s plan and the national strategy to combat violence in schools, as well as bowling.
The interventions carried out by the Ministry of Education will be at all levels. One of them concerns the operation of a digital complaint platform for incidents of bullying in schools. Complaints on the platform will be anonymous. Using the platform will be quite easy. There will be questions as well as fields where complainants can write in detail the incident they either saw or experienced. In the first instance, the school will take over and if the incidents are considered very serious, then it will be managed by the education directorate, a 4-member committee which will consist of a psychologist, a social worker and two teachers.
It also tightens the framework of consequences for students who bowl. The 5-day suspension is back and the separation of absences into unjustified and justified 40 – 75.
The absence log, the textbook and the grades of the students will be digitized so that parents can know at any time what is happening in the school. In the case of students who have caused material damage to the school, then the parents will be charged financially to cover the cost of the repair.
The use of cell phones in school is still prohibited today. However, students who use their cell phones to expose classmates on social media will face the harshest penalty of changing the school environment.
