Visit of the president of SYRIZA to the Municipal Market of Xanthi
Accuracy exponentially impoverishes the Greek people, said the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, during his visit to the Municipal Market of Xanthi.
“What prevails in the Municipal Market of Xanthi is, once again, the proof of what the Eurostat figures say that the purchasing power of the Greeks is at the bottom of Europe along with Bulgaria. The precision and inflation in food have caused absolute silence here in the Municipal Market,” said Mr. Kasselakis and underlined: “So many places that used to be lively businesses, shops, merchants were closed.
Obviously fellow citizens have gone to supermarkets and big chains to get their basic goods. Here, too, a shopkeeper told me that where they buy fish twice a week, he gets it once in 15 days. This alone shows how punctuality plagues the Greek people and how especially outside the urban centers, like here in Thrace, which is a neglected area of our country, punctuality really impoverishes the world in an exponential way.”
He emphasized the need to take immediate measures against punctuality, while pointing out: “The prime minister called punctuality imported before the elections and now he comes and says our country is a banana and that he will fight punctuality, that there are other measures which they have not implemented yet, which for some reason are delaying them, I don’t understand why, if he really wants to help the world reduce VAT to 0% on basic goods, put a cap on electricity and finally put an end to the profiteering.
So, there are suggestions. Accuracy is not imported. It is a political will and if they want to tell the world that accuracy does not exist or is not such an important issue, let them come here to the Municipal Market of Xanthi to see how it has languished”.
Mr. Kasselakis toured the center of Xanthi, accompanied by MEP candidates of the party, while he sat in a cafe in “Roloi” square, where he met with casino workers, who have received a notice of dismissal, and listened to their problems.
He walked the main streets, entered several shops and chatted with the staff. He shook hands with citizens, with whom he also had a few minutes of discussions, about the European elections and more, and took pictures with them.
