D. Koutsoubas said that “the only thing that saves the ND government is the convenient opposition that all the other parties make to it and on this issue, having as their flag the “normality” of the EU”
The head of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, in his today’s speech in the Parliament, to be precise, he said that “since the summer of 2021, when the problem of accuracy began to worsen, Mr. Mitsotakis pretends to be ignorant of the real causes, while he and his government are complicit in these causes that are common both in Greece and in Europe and speaks of “imported” price increases”.
He said the ND government “with the consent of the other EU parties has promoted first of all supporting competitiveness and increasing the profits of EU monopoly groups, secondly cheap lending and huge packages to business groups, a policy which adopted by the EU with the Recovery Fund, which lead data to inflation, thirdly the policy of forming a very expensive energy mix, fourthly the policy of extroversion with an emphasis on exports and tourism which obviously pushes prices up, fifthly all – plus KKE-voted and endorsed the CAP which is responsible for the exorbitant cost of production and the huge price discrepancy from field to shelf.”
“Of course, as a sixth element, when we talk about accuracy, we are not only referring to the prices of the products, but in total to the tripartite prices-salaries-taxes,” he emphasized, noting that “taxes make up 25% of the price of products, and at the same time the average salary with the memorandum laws of all of you is at the level of 2009” he pointed out.
Responding to the government’s claim that “the real solution lies in development that will bring better wages”, D. Koutsoumbas pointed out that “we have had high rates of capitalist development in recent years in Greece and they have led us to the current situation and the accuracy has jumped, all these years of this growth of yours.’
“The crucial question, therefore, it is for whom the development is, because we certainly have development for the profits of the few” he underlined.
He also recalled that the last time we had triple growth rates was in 2009 and it is known that after that “what follows is a great growth in capitalism because capitalist growth and capitalist crisis are the twin brothers of this system and they pay for them always the people”.
He said the average wage is now “15% down on 2011 when the cost of living has risen enormously since then, civil servants’ wages remain 20% down on 2011 and the state continues to steal from them the two salaries. 50% of the beneficiaries of the main old-age pension receive a maximum of 814 euros”.
He added that these are the results of “the policy of the government of the ND and the previous ones who have given all the weapons to the employer”, of the “anti-insurance laws”, while at the time when “the growth rates are prosperous, the country’s enormous productive potential is discredited, an emblematic example LARCO”.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s correspondence with Ursula von der Leyen, he noted, among other things, “doesn’t Mrs. von der Leyen know that multinational companies operate as they wish in the single European market with the sole criterion of profit? That the EU has also institutionally taken over their protection?’
“Are you telling us,” he said addressing the prime minister, “that the EU will go against this? But that is exactly what the EU is and why it exists. A single market of multinationals, lobbies, monopolies and of course the Commission’s answer came and canceled your pre-election fireworks saying that they are thinking of dealing with the accuracy by deepening the factors that have caused it”.
D. Koutsoubas said that “the only thing that saves the ND government is the convenient opposition that all the other parties make to it and on this issue, having as their flag the “normality” of the EU”.
He pointed out, in particular, that the focus of the government and the other parties on the EU’s “average terms” is “because you don’t want to, you can’t, you’re not allowed to touch the real causes of the problem of precision, that is, your development for profit ».
“You take the core of the problem as a given, as a given, as “imported”, or as each of you puts it, and fight the “battle of battles” of an unpopular management for slightly above or slightly below “average conditions” ” explained.
“You can’t, all of you, because of your commitments challenge this EU policy which contributes to the problem of punctuality in all countries, you don’t touch the huge profits made by the big groups you also don’t touch the commitments in the EU for “bloody” surpluses every year as reflected in the new Stability Pact, you don’t touch the “green “extortions, the special taxes on electricity-fuels, the commercialization of social services that used to be free, you don’t touch, finally, the increase in military spending for the NATO and EU war plans”.
“And because you do not touch these, you cannot tell the truth to the people. That the problem of accuracy is a symptom of the normal functioning of this rotten system called capitalism,” he stressed.
“There is a huge, fundamental, political, ideological and value difference between the KKE and all of you, the followers of the EU and the capitalist road of development. We don’t kid the people that there is some magic solution that will make both the pie whole and the dog full. That the surpluses will be caught and the people will be relieved of taxes. And capital gains will increase and wages will be enough for a decent living.
These do not happen on the Second Coming either. Someone has to pay, you see. We say that in order for the people to gain even a relief today, capital must lose their profits, EU policy must suffer a blow. To be able to live on the basis of modern possibilities, covering their needs with income of it, capital must lose the power it holds today as a whole” emphasized D. Koutsoubas.
He stressed that the KKE will continue to be at the forefront of labor struggles and demands and at the same time tabled concrete proposals today to partially address the punctuality problem.
He pointed out, in particular, by submitting specific evidence that “no discussion can be held about the accuracy, if the decision that the EU has taken is not in the focus and in the target of our people, all of us to transform its economy into a “war economy”, which is the big issue of the days”.
Emphasizing that all this “can and must be answered in the European elections on June 9”, he concluded his speech by underlining: “With the KKE much stronger and the ND government weakened and the other parties that support this EU policy, we will be able to fight more aggressively, more effectively and continue to fight all the battles for the protection of the people’s income from accuracy”.
