Any audit on the Prolepsis Institute is welcome, says SYRIZA MP Athina Linou – Aichmes v. Polakis
Her appeal to the Court for the restoration of the truth, Athena Linou announced with her post. Every check for the Prolepsis Institute is welcome declares the SYRIZA MP, in the shadow of the information that there is a request for her to be referred to the Ethics Committee of SYRIZA by 184 members and executives of the party (among them some members of the Central Committee), as well as the accusations of Pavlos Polakis.
“Yesterday at noon, and for the first time, the Director of the political office of the President Mr. Kasselakis, Mr. Kapnisakis, asked me for financial data of the Prolepsis Institute. Today, 459 pages were delivered to the President with all the information requested, as I have repeatedly stated, any verification is welcome. As for the continued lies, which it is now obvious have nothing to do with me, but serve political ambitions and to heal a wounded “I”, I will directly appeal to Justice with the sole purpose of restoring the truth” he emphasizes, leaving spikes for the MP of Chania.
“The Prolepsis Institute is not a business, it has no profits, nor can it have profits, based on the legislation and its statutes as a Civil Non-Profit Company (AMKE). Also, as the President of the Institute – a position I left on 19/5/23 – I have never received a salary” adds the MP.
“Unfortunately, once again, instead of dealing with the serious and ongoing problems of the Greek people, we are forced towe explain the obvious to people who pretend not to understand” concludes Ms. Linou.
Athena Linou’s post in detail:
“Yesterday at noon, and for the first time, the Director of the political office of the President Mr. Kasselakis, Mr. Kapnisakis, asked me for financial data of the Prolepsis Institute. Today, 459 pages of all the requested information were handed over to the President because, as I have repeatedly stated, any audit is welcome.
As for the continued lies, which are now obvious that they have nothing to do with me, but serve political ambitions and to heal a wounded “I”, I will immediately go to Justice for the sole purpose of restoring the truth.
And I must once again emphasize the following to those who with personal and political guile pretend not to understand:
The Prolepsis Institute is not a business, does not have profits, nor can it have profits, based on the legislation and its statutes as a Civil Non-Profit Company (NPO). Also, as President of the Institute – a position I left on 5/19/23 – I have never received a salary.
The “NUTRITION” program is funded by public and private agencies, foundations and individual donors. Thanks to these donations, since 2012 the Institute has provided 18 million meals to nearly 200,000 children. Yes, even during the period when schools were closed (with 15-day packages received by families from schools with valuable input from teachers and principals). Yes, with special specifications for healthy meals (designed by nutritionists and with continuous quality checks). Yes, with suppliers and distributors selected through annual invitations and tender processes.
The results for the participating students are clear: elimination of hunger for 34% of children experiencing hunger, a 17% reduction in food insecurity, a significant improvement in the eating habits of children and families, and an even greater impact on the most vulnerable families.
I am so deeply convinced of the importance of this project (as well as the Institute’s other programs), that I have decided to dedicate myself – through politics – to the continuous pressure on the Mitsotakis government to implement at the national level the social work that should have been performed by the state. The same values that drove me to found the Institute 35 years ago are the same values that drive me to Parliament: that no child should go hungry, no elderly person should be alone, and no worker or farmer should be at risk because of working conditions.
Unfortunately, once again, instead of dealing with the serious and ongoing problems of the Greek people, we are forced to explain the obvious to people who pretend not to understand.”
