Chelsea are reportedly targeting Liverpool’s Michael Edwards as the new sporting director.

The West London Club is undergoing restructuring after Roman Abramovich decided to sell the club. Bruce Buck will resign as president and Marina Granovskaya will resign this summer.

Granovskaya was highly influential as a manager at Chelsea and played a significant role in transfer and contract negotiations.

According to ESPN, new Chelsea co-owner Toddball wants Edwards to lead the reorganization of the club’s technical department after Granovskaya’s departure.

According to the report, the move to Chelsea will attract Edwards, who has been a major part of Liverpool’s success in recent years.

Edwards joined Liverpool from Tottenham in November 2011 and was appointed sporting director five years later.

During his time at Anfield, Edwards played a key role in rebuilding the team, helping to acquire Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, Virgil van Dijk and Allison.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopphead was asked about his involvement with Edwards in November.

“If you are as lucky and blessed as ever, you may be able to create more special memories for your club in the rest of this time.

“He has always been at LFC during my tenure and his contribution to our success is clear to all.”
