Justice granted provisional release, upon payment of bail, to Red Bull Bragantino defender Renan Victor da Silva, 20, accused of running over and killing a motorcyclist in Bragança Paulista (SP) last Friday (22). The decision was made this Saturday (23), during a custody hearing.

The player will answer for the crime of manslaughter, when there is no intention to kill, with the aggravating factors of being under the influence of alcoholic beverages and not being licensed to drive.

According to a report by TV Vanguarda, the bail will be in the amount of 200 minimum wages, equivalent to R$ 242 thousand.

The defender must deliver his passport to the Federal Police within 72 hours and will need to attend all acts of the process. The decision also prohibits Renan from going to bars and concert halls.

On Friday morning (22), the player was involved in a fatal accident in the interior of São Paulo. The case took place on Alkindar Monteiro Junqueira Highway, which connects Bragança Paulista to Itatiba (80 km from São Paulo), around 6:40 am.

According to the Policia Milita Rodoviária, the car driven by the player would have invaded the opposite lane, at the height of kilometer 47, and hit a motorcycle. The motorcycle’s driver, Eliezer Pena, 38, died at the scene.

According to the police report, the player had signs of intoxication. He refused to take a breathalyzer test and was detained.
