The 5th matchday is predicted to be hot of the playoffs at Stoiximan Super League.
In addition to the European derby between Volos and Aris, there are two other crucial matches in Toumba (PAOK-Panathinaikos) and Faliro (Olympiakos-AEK), the eventual results in favor of the home team tipping the balance in the continuation of the ranking matches.
All this, however, will become clear by the evening, when the competitive action will be completed.
VOLOS – ARIS
The two teams have met a total of eight times in both venues and have not drawn in any of them. This season, as well as the first time they met (2019-20), are the only ones that each took advantage of their home ground. Last season, the away team prevailed, Volos in Thessaloniki and Aris in Volos.
After the victory of Volos in the first meeting in their history (August 31, 2019) there were four consecutive victories of Aris at home and away.
In their last three meetings, only one of the two has scored, which is a common occurrence, as there have been goals from both sides in just one of their eight meetings. This only happened on November 7, 2021, when Aris prevailed 2-1 in Volos.
Volos’ maiden home game in the Super League was against Aris on August 31, 2019 for the 2nd matchday and the Magnesia team won 1-0.
PAOK – PANATHINAIKOS
The two teams have met four times this season, with two of their meetings being for the league and the other two for the Greek Cup. PAOK prevailed in two of them, while there is a victory of Panathinaikos in Toumba for the championship and a draw in “Apostolos Nikolaidis” for the Greek Cup.
PAOK had maintained their unbeaten home run for the league against Panathinaikos for eight consecutive games with a tally of five wins and three draws. Panathinaikos prevailed 2-1 on October 2, 2022 and this was their first away win since the one they scored on May 31, 2017 for the league Playoffs.
The two teams have faced each other ten times for the Playoffs process in all their forms. PAOK has four wins, Panathinaikos three and another three of their games have ended in draws.
In the last three years there have been two clean draws and a 2-0 win by PAOK last season.
OLYMPIAKOS – AEK
The two teams have faced each other four times so far, with two matches for the championship and two for the Greek Cup.
There was a draw in the home match against Olympiakos for the championship, while their last meeting was on Holy Week, where the Red and Whites prevailed 2-1 for the Greek Cup.
AEK, with its victory (3-0) in the first match between them for the Greek Cup, broke the negative tradition that wanted it not to have a victory over Olympiakos since February 7, 2018, when again for the Greek Cup it prevailed with 2- 1.
Of course, Olympiacos has been unbeaten in the league away from home against AEK since February 4, 2018, when the Kitrinomavroi prevailed 2-1. Since then 16 league games have been played between them and there are 11 wins for Olympiakos and five draws, while as home team they have 6 wins and two draws.
In the last three years in the playoffs, Olympiacos has two victories at home with 2-0 and 3-0, while last year’s match ended in a 1-1 draw.
