Fan dead at Leyton Orient-Lincoln: Fans force referee to stop match

by

Tragic incident at Leyton Orient – Lincoln. A fan of the team breathed his last in yesterday’s game with Lincoln, as reported by the British media.

In particular, they report that a fan lost consciousness in the stands, with the other people who were next to him urgently calling for help. The security guards who realized what happened notified the authorities as quickly as possible and they called an ambulance.

However, what followed is what shocks. The referee, although he understood what happened, did not make a decision to stop the game, asking the players to continue fighting.

This decision caused a strong reaction from the fans who were next to the unconscious person. Unable to give him first aid, around 20 people entered the pitch forcing the referee to stop the match so they could place the fan there and give him CPR on the edge of the pitch.

The ambulance, as reported by the English media, took just four minutes to arrive and begin providing first aid to the person, who was eventually pronounced dead.
