Police Federation on Derby: ‘Round up the bums’

With the many years of experience and knowledge we have gathered, facing as police officers, in the hot field of incidents and riots, the real causes of this phenomenon, we emphasized that the state is trying to hide its responsibilities by throwing the “ball” on the backs of the police and especially to the low-ranking staff who are asked to control the entrances to the stadiums, supposedly to prevent the secret transportation of illegal objects, while it is known to everyone who and how they set up the incidents and of course who is asked to pay for the broken ones.

So far with the mockery of Greek society and the sports fan world.

As long as the questions we raised and continue to raise are not answered, the only thing you will have achieved again will be the shifting of responsibilities, and indeed this time on the backs of the police, i.e. the state!

Disgrace!

And we wonder:

Does anyone dare to claim that the policeman is to blame for the sad events and the stoppage of the derby yesterday in Piraeus?

Will the competent judiciary finally do its duty, seeing and confronting those who incite and cause violence according to their own interests, or will it continue to be blind, undermining the foundations and principles that it should serve as an institution of a privileged state?

If you have no intention of picking up the threshers, close up shop and throw the key down the drain.

As far as we are concerned, we declare once again our firm commitment to the defense of the Greek Police and its personnel from the disastrous decisions taken in the name of suppressing violence as well as from the unjust attacks it receives.

Finally, we call on everyone in charge to seriously consider the problem, taking into account our own established proposals for dealing with it.

Everything else is for us to talk about. But the police, really, what’s wrong with you?
