Despite the scenarios about his departure and the various publications about possible destinations, o Pep Guardiola it’s not going anywhere! OR Manchester City announced the renewal of its partnership with the Catalan technician until 2027, with him assuring the world through a short video “I’m not going anywhere, rest assured”.
In fact, this means that with the completion of the specific contract, Mr Pep will have stayed more than 10 years at the helm of City, which he joined in 2016. Anyway, his tenure there is longer lasting in his career, and it looks like he will grow even bigger.
Guardiola’s time at City has been full of success. So far he has won 18 trophiesincluding six titles in Premier League and one Champions League.
By winning the title at England last season, City became the first men’s team in English football history to win four first division titles in a row. Under his instructions, also City became the first team in its history Premier League to reach 100 points in a single season (2017/18) and the first in English football to win all four domestic trophies in the 2018-19 season.
His overall record is remarkable. In all competitions, the “citizens” have won 353 out of 490 matches with him on the bench, giving him an excellent 72% win rate, with City scoring 1,200 goals during this period at an average of 2.45 goals per game.
“This is my ninth season here. We had so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club. That’s why I’m so happy to stay for another two seasons. Thank you all for continuing to trust and support me”Guardiola said after signing the renewal and continued:
“I’ve said it many times before, but I have everything a manager could wish for and I appreciate that very much. Hopefully now we can add more trophies to the ones we’ve already won. That will be my big goal.”
