Yannis Vroutsis representative of the EU Member States on the WADA Board of Directors, for three years

Great honor and international recognition of Greece’s role in the world of sports during yesterday’s meeting of the Council of Ministers of the European Union for Sports, in Brussels:

Unanimously, it was approved by the 26 counterparts of Mr. His proclamation from January 1, 2025 and for three years (until December 31, 2027) as the representative of the EU Member States on the Board of Directors of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is a disgrace!

“I warmly thank the Hungarian President of today’s Sports Ministers’ Meeting, all my counterparts and especially Ireland and Lithuania, our upcoming Tripartite Presidency in the EU, for the honor, trust and support” said the Greek Minister of Sports and pledged:

“It is a great responsibility to represent the policy of the EU Member States at WADA, but I take this opportunity to assure the House that I will do everything possible in the next three years so that our common effort is strengthened, both at European level, as well as in international.

So that our fight against banned substances, in the direction of a fairer, cleaner and free from the effects of doping, Sports, gives the best results.

Of the Sports of Integrity, as befits its Ideals and Values, which were born in my country and we spread them all over the world”.

The choice of Mr. Vroutsis, as the representative of the EU Member States, on the WADA Board of Directors, reflects the systematic actions of our country in recent years and of himself, since assuming his duties, in the fight against the global scourge of doping.

The recognition of Greece’s progress is now pantheonological, as the WADA president, Vitold Banka (photo), has repeatedly stated, with the establishment, undivided support and exemplary operation of the National Anti-Doping Organization (EOCAN), its Governor, Grigoris Leo, of all its executives and employees.
