When condolences and job applications go to the wrong… Prince William

by

On Google, his website (princewilliamliving.com) appears immediately after that of the British royal family in the search results for “How to contact Prince William?”

Prince William Living magazine covers the news of the county of the same name in the US state of Virginia, but in recent days it has been at the center of international interest, following the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.

On Google, his website (princewilliamliving.com) appears immediately after that of the British royal family in the search results for “How to contact Prince William?”

As a result, condolence messages, drawings and poems have been flooding the magazine’s e-mail for two days. In fact, someone expressed a desire to send something for… Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin decoration.

A total of about 80 messages arrived from India, Bhutan, Japan, Egypt, the United States and even Britain, according to the magazine’s editor Rebecca Barnes. “It seems even the English don’t know how to use Google properly,” she joked to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Not all senders are selfless. A teenage girl who claims to be a “huge fan” of Britain’s royal family has requested an invitation to Elizabeth II’s funeral. Another, who emphasizes that he is “very clean,” offers housekeeping services looking for work.

The county named after Prince William was created long before the son of Britain’s new monarch, who is now first in the line of succession, was born. It dates from 1731 and was named after the Duke of Cumberland, son of King George II of Britain.

Confusion, however, is not a new phenomenon. Messages about the first-born son of the late Princess Diana occasionally reach the American magazine’s e-mail. Rebecca Barnes doesn’t bother to answer, but sometimes she can’t resist the temptation. Someone was asking “What do I have to do to become the next king of Britain?” and advised him to send… application with his resume. “Who am I to stand in his way?” Rebecca Barnes commented with a laugh.
