Paraguay’s Civil Aviation Authority today launched an investigation into LATAM Airlines flight LA1325, the ruler of which he was obliged to do emergency landing after finding out that the nose of the aircraft was disintegrating in the midst of a violent storm.

The Airbus A320 owned by the aforementioned airline’s subsidiary in Paraguay (LATAM Airlines Paraguay) encountered extreme weather conditions, late Wednesday night while flying from Asuncion to Santiago, Chile.

Videos posted on social media show the terrifying moments for passengers as the plane jolts and lightning flashes from the windows.

The plane returned to the Paraguayan capital and landed safely, with no injuries to passengers or crew members. However, the images of the disintegrated nose and the cracks in the cockpit glass are shocking.

The head of Paraguay’s civil aviation agency (DINAC) said the plane encountered an “unprecedented storm”.

For its part, the airline emphasized that “passengers and crew members are fine” and that the Airbus A320 was forced to make an emergency landing around 11:00 p.m. (local time) due to “extreme weather conditions.”
