The Israeli Prime Minister refers to “a clear threat of assassination against the Prime Minister of Israel”.
Israeli PM warns of escalating violence and death threats as protests continue against planned judicial reforms being pushed by his government Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a statement issued today by his office, it says that Netanyahu criticized “the ever-increasing wave of daily challenges that cross the border.”
At the same time, in the same announcement, the Israeli Prime Minister refers to “a clear threat of assassination against the Prime Minister of Israel”, as well as threats against other elected officials.
He himself referred to a post made on Facebook by a reserve colonel. The post said, among other things: “If a prime minister receives dictatorial powers, that prime minister is branded with death…, along with his ministers and the people who agree with his call.”
The former fighter pilot who led the Israeli Air Force’s 1981 attack on Iraq’s nuclear reactor later distanced himself from this post.
The police, however, activated the relevant investigation.
