Turkey’s support for the Iranian people on the death of President Raisi expressed the Turkish Foreign Minister. Hakan Fidan. A Turkish drone helped locate the helicopter. The first reaction from Turkey’s side came from Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Speaking at a joint press conference in Islamabad alongside his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Fidan expressed his condolences over the loss of Iranian President and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullaian. The Pakistani minister said today is a sad day for the Islamic world, while Haqqan Fidan wished God’s mercy to those who lost their lives and patience to their families. The Turkish minister even added: “We were in contact from the moment we received the items of the accident. We have tried to mobilize all the resources at our disposal. All our services did their best. But unfortunately, the news we received saddened us.”

Fidan’s statements were followed by a written message from the Turkish Presidency. The Turkish president calls the deceased president his dear counterpart and brother and wishes God’s mercy for him and the Iranian foreign minister and all those whose lives are in the same helicopter. Both Fidan and the Turkish president expressed their condolences to the friendly and brotherly Iranian people. The Turkish president made special reference to the religious leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. “His counterpart who personally saw his efforts for the peace of the Iranian people and our region during his term,” President Erdogan emphasized, “I keep Mr. President in my memory with respect and gratitude. As Turkey we will stand by our neighbor Iran in these difficult and sad times, as we do many times.”

The Akinci drone contributed to the detection

And while the Turkish media are spreading various scenarios about the causes of the accident and policies in the region, the company that produces the drones Bayraktar, co-owned by the son-in-law of the Turkish president, is very happy that its high-tech drone, the Akinci, sent by the Turkish Ministry of Defense, was the heat detector that was able to locate the helicopter wreckage. Over 2.5 million people live streamed Akinci’s operation. Turkey and Iran, though belonging to different branches of Islam, have been maintaining relations recently after the war in Gaza. The mention of the Turkish president that Turkey will stand by Iran in the difficult times it is going through, sends an important message about the Turkish attitude in the next period.
