An alarm has been sounded in Vancouver, in Canada with a vehicle falling on a crowd of people during the annual Lapu Lapu festival.

According to the police, and as Reuters reports there are “enoughdead and injuredhowever, there is no official report for the time being.

The 30 -year -old driver of the Vancouver vehicle has been arrested and has not been clarified at the moment whether it is an accident or deliberate action.

Vancouver police have clarified that the incident occurred shortly after 20:00 local time on Saturday (06:00 Greek time today) in the city’s Sanset Fraser district.

The footage shows many patrols, ambulances and fire trucks on the spot, while people are fallen to the ground.

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim said he was shocked by the horrible event on the day Lapu Lapu – which is a big celebration for the Philippine community. This festival honors the leading form of the struggle against colonialism in the 16th century in the Philippines.

The mayor noted that police have confirmed that there were several dead and injured.

“Our thoughts are with all the affected and with the Philippian community of Vancouver”Sim noted.
