The meeting was held with the participation of Energy Minister Eli Cohen and Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou and agreed that the electric cable (IMEC project) connecting the two countries – and, SThe future, Cyprus with Europe – It will be signed this year.

The installation of the electricity cable is extremely important for energy security, as Israel is considered an “island nation” from an energy point of view and as the infrastructure corridor will be a link between the East and the West, between India and Europe.

The agreement on the distribution of the Aphrodite-Gissai gas deposit between the two countries, the negotiations for which they are at an advanced stage, was also discussed, which is expected to be signed in the next two months.
